Weekend Recap
Well, MLG Dallas has come to a close after a weekend filled with excitement. Events are always exciting, even for us spectators who do nothing but sit at home and watch the live stream. Even though there were many stream issues, all of us spectators made it our goal to watch as much of the event as we possibly could. The winners from all 3 games (Halo Reach, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Starcraft 2) are well deserving and congratulations goes out to all of them.
In Halo, we saw Status Quo, a team that actually played at the Combine events for Halo 3, take home their first event win. Now, Halo used a pool play system for this event that I couldn’t understand for the life of me, so I’m just not going to get into that. Status Quo took home a good chunk of prize money, along with a nice trophy, so congratulations and good luck to them at the next event.
Call of Duty saw the first seeded LeveraGe take home the first prize, defeating the eleventh seeded Resistance. Leverage actually lost to Resistance in winners bracket finals, and were able to come back from being down in the series 3-2 to win the continuation. Now, Resistance made a statement this event, and definitely proved that they are one of the best teams out there. Fan favorites OpTic Gaming took home 3rd place as well. Congratulations to all teams who finished in the top 8, and best of luck as they prepare for Columbus.
I’m not very educated on Starcraft 2, but I do know that Naniwa was the champion. He didn’t even drop a game up until the finals if I’m not mistaken, so he’s definitely a force to be reckoned with. Congratulations to him and hopefully he makes the trip back overseas to compete in Columbus.
That’s a brief summary of how the event finished up, hope it was a decent read. I’ll have a lot more details following the next event (Columbus, June 3-5) as I’m planning on attending. All in all it was a great weekend in gaming, and now I’m sure everyone is excited for Columbus!
